"Deep self-care for sustainable well-being in humanitarian work"
Wednesday 27th of November 2024, 18:00-20:00 CET, online
In the world of humanitarian work, self-care is too often reduced to an item to check off on our to-do list, seen as a luxury, or perceived as incompatible with our fast-paced realities.
You might relate to one or more of these common scenarios:
Self-care feels like another obligation - something you know is important but hard to prioritize.
You believe self-care requires time, money, or the perfect conditions, none of which seem possible in your life or work right now.
You’ve wondered if self-care can really make a difference when the challenges and stresses of your work are constant.
You feel that self-care, as presented in popular culture, doesn’t speak to the realities of humanitarian work.
But what if self-care could be something deeper - something that doesn’t add to your to-do list but instead becomes an integral, sustainable part of your life and work? In this workshop, we’ll explore self-care beyond the surface, shifting to a perception of self-care as a 24/7 practice that nourishes and sustains you as you navigate the unique demands of the humanitarian field.
If any of this resonates with you, join us in this workshop where we’ll cover:
Challenging common beliefs about self-care: Together, we’ll explore societal and personal beliefs around self-care that may limit its potential. Does self-care require dedicated time or major effort? Is it only about physical relaxation? Must it be done alone? Let’s redefine what self-care can be.
Practical tools for sustainable self-care: Experience simple, accessible self-care practices that don’t require special equipment or extra time. These small, powerful adjustments can be integrated even in the busiest of humanitarian settings.
Reframing self-care as essential, not optional: Deep self-care is about building resilience and strengthening your ability to show up fully, both for yourself and those you serve. We’ll discuss how to make self-care an integral part of your daily life and what might support you in taking your self-care to the next level.
Exploring self-care from within: Through practical, body-based exercises, we’ll explore self-care from multiple angles, uncovering what truly supports your well-being. Themes like boundaries, self-compassion, and other essential elements will guide you toward a balanced, sustainable approach to self-care.
In this workshop, you’ll experience a blend of reflection, interactive discussion, and embodied practices to uncover a new approach to self-care. You’ll walk away with practical tools and action points, as well as a refreshed perspective on self-care as a meaningful and supportive part of your everyday life in the humanitarian sector.
This workshop is designed for humanitarian professionals who:
Are looking to deepen their approach to self-care beyond occasional practices,
